Our Christian Values

Our Vision Statement:

"We aspire that this Church Academy will be a distinctive centre of excellence, where our children become independent, thinking, resilient individuals with a passion for learning and enquiry.  They will be taught by skilled teachers who nurture every pupil and embed Christian values to maximise potential."

As a Church of England school, we are focused on two keys aspects:

  • Our distinctive Christian character
  • Collective Worship

Our distinctive Christian character

We pride ourselves on clearly expressed Christian values, and how these affect daily lives and achievements.  All members of the school community are encouraged to demonstrate these values and they drive our approach to progress, behaviour and attendance.  Our learners understand the importance of RE in their lives and also understand that Christianity is part of a multi-cultural world, and that all diversity and differences are to be respected.  Opportunities to experience spirituality are provided through an approach that encourages pupils to express their thought and feelings with confidence

Collective Worship

We recognise the value of worship and pupils talk about what they see and hear from the Bible, and how it impacts on all aspects of school life.  Collective worship regularly includes biblical material and Christian teaching, focusing on Jesus Christ and on God as Father and Holy Spirit.  Pupils take an active part in worship and we welcome in visitors from wide range of Christian traditions to lead and take part in our daily worship.

We have strong links with our local church Holy Trinity and St Mary’s Church Lydney, visiting them for Christian festivals and also for performances, or to find out more about the life and history of the church.

We also learn about other faiths during the year, exploring what it means to have a faith and how we might apply these ideas to our own lives.
