Key Stage 2

All Key Stage 2 pupils will follow a creative curriculum based around specific themes.

2016-2017

We start the year with our key skill of CURIOSITY. There is a history focus looking at CHANGE across time.

Birch: The children will be learning about World War 1. Overview

Holly:In Holly class the children will be learning about the terrible Tudors! Overview.

Maple: In Year 5 and 6, the children will be learning about the Victorians. Full Steam Ahead Overview.

Rowan: Overview

Sycamore: Inventive Victorians overview.

 

Summer Term 2017

We are going around the world through our Geography topic this term. Our key skill is CITIZEN, enabling the children to know about their place in the local, national and global community. The key word to drive our topic work is DISCOVERY.

In Birch class the children will be completing a comparative study between the UK and France. Home and Away overview.

The children in Holly class will also be completing a comparative study between the UK and Euope. Home and Away overview.

The children in upper KS2 will be going Around the World in 30 days! They will be focussing on comparing areas of mountains and rivers in the UK and North America.

 

Our Year 6 children will be working hard in their SAT tests in May and will be getting exctied about their forthcoming resdential trip.

 

2015-2016

In the Autumn Term the whole school theme was History based.

Year 5 pupils in Beech class are learnt abuot the Stone Age including an exciting trip to Stonehenge. Click here for an overview.

Year 6 children in Sycamore class condcted a hisorical study of the locality of the Forest of Dean. Please click here for an overview.

In the Spring Term our whole school theme is authors, inspried by our visit to the Cheltenham literature Festival last term.

Year 3,4 and 5 children will be learning about story telling through comic and cartoon texts. they will be reading stories by Gary Northfield and David Walliams.

In the Summer term we are following a science theme based on plants and growing and changing. We will be looking after our school grounds on community day and even watching our very own chicks through their life cycle.
