Intent At Primrose Hill Church of England School, we understand that music can inspire and motivate children, and play an important role in their personal development. Our curriculum introduces children to music from all around the world and across generations, teaching children to respect and appreciate the music of all traditions and communities. Children will develop the musical skills of singing, playing instruments, improvising and composing music, and listening and responding to music. Our Music Curriculum is taught through the Kapow Primary music scheme of work which enables pupils to meet the end of key stage attainment targets outlined in the National curriculum. Kapow Primary Music Scheme We use the Kapow Primary Music Scheme to support our teaching and learning of music. It enables pupils to understand musical concepts through a repetition-based approach to learning. Impact The impact and measure of our music curriculum is to ensure that children at Primrose Hill Church of England Academy are equipped with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to be ready for the curriculum at Key Stage 3 and to enjoy and appreciate music throughout their lives. |
